Doordash's community credits program returns to fuel non-profits across Australia

Food delivery platform DoorDash has opened applications for its Community Credits program to non-profit organisations across Australia. The program, launched in 2021, aims to create greater access and equity for communities struggling to access meals and essentials.

Since its inception, the program has already distributed over AUD$215,000 worth of credits to 22 groups. These credits have been used to cover regular meal deliveries and groceries for those in need. Two Sydney-based non-profits, The Rev Bill Crews Foundation and Anglicare, have been among the beneficiaries.

"We know that having access to meals can make a difference for nonprofits that are working to address food insecurity. We're proud to provide Australian nonprofits with the resources they need to cater to more of their members needing food assistance," said General Manager, DoorDash Australia, Puji Fernando.

The Rev Bill Crews Foundation has received $17,500 worth of credits, benefiting over 139 individuals. "Our partnership with DoorDash allows us to serve our mission and support Sydney's homeless and disadvantaged population. By providing immediate food relief, our members can focus on other crucial areas of their lives, such as housing and medical care. We look forward to growing our partnership with DoorDash to reach even more individuals and families in need," said Reverend Bill Crews, Founder and Chairman at Rev Bill Crews Foundation.

Anglicare Sydney has received $7,500 worth of credits, benefiting over 300 people. Head of Food & Financial Assistance at Anglicare Sydney, Paul Fitzpatrick, said: "These food credits from DoorDash have helped us support people who might otherwise struggle to access our service. From difficulties with transport to chronic health issues or family circumstances, there are many reasons it can be hard to find the right support. With these credits, we have been able to assist people doing it tough with the food and essentials they need."

OzHarvest, a recent recipient of Community Credits, plans to use them to alleviate the increase in demand for food relief. "Every day, we serve 450 people free food in a dignified supermarket-style setting at our Waterloo Market. We're thrilled to receive financial support from DoorDash to help individuals from all walks of life put food on the table," said National Partnerships Executive at OzHarvest, Julia Gove.
