Taste.com.au unveils 2025 food trends: a glimpse into australia's culinary future
Taste.com.au, a leading Australian food media brand, has released its 2025 Trend Forecast, providing insights into the food preferences of its 4.5 million monthly users. The brand's audience generates 68 million page views and 99 million data points daily, offering a deep dive into Australian food consumption habits.
The data, combined with Australian and global trend reports and the expertise of the company's Food Directors and Editors, has been used to identify food trends for 2025. The three key trends identified for 2025 are 'Brave New World', 'Pantry Pride', and 'Cultural Connection'.
"Today we unveiled the three key food trends we believe will have the biggest impact in 2025 to help marketers shape their strategies for the coming year," said Kerrie McCallum, Head of Food, Health & Travel at Taste.com.au.
Taste.com.au has been forecasting food trends since 2017 and claims their predictions have consistently been accurate. "We’ve been forecasting food trends since 2017 and they have consistently hit the mark. They've become a valuable resource for brand leaders, shaping their product, content, and marketing strategies," McCallum added.
For the first time, a longitudinal analysis of the Taste Trend Forecast has been conducted, demonstrating the impact and accuracy of the trends. "Our data review demonstrates the accuracy of our predictions, highlighting that many trends not only sparked consumer interest but have also shown steep, sustained growth. In fact, some trends hit an all-time high – from plant-based diets and gut health to the rise of kitchen gadgetry. The combination of taste.com.au’s unparalleled data and insights creates a powerful formula for success," McCallum explained.
Five food video trends for the upcoming year were also revealed: 'Pantry Magic', 'Dinner Hacks', 'Fresh & Fast', 'Sensory Trifecta', and 'Taste Tests'. Taste.com.au's recipe content has been shown to influence product purchase, with 50% of readers purchasing the branded product listed in the recipe within seven days.
The virtual event presenting these findings featured Kerrie McCallum, Matt Preston, Laura Simpson, Liza Williams, Dan Krigstein, and Toby Harrison, providing a comprehensive overview of the future of food trends in Australia.
