JCDecaux lands Adelaide airport (oOh! insists it didn’t tender)
JCDecaux has won the Adelaide Airport contract, long held by rival oOh!media, which states that it made a "deliberate decision" not to pitch.
JCDecaux has won the out of home contract for Adelaide and Parafield airports (AAL), taking on exclusivity for in-terminal and roadside screens and billboards. The firm now has airport contracts across Perth, Sydney, Auckland, Christchurch and Queenstown as well as Adelaide. It has 154 airport contracts worldwide.
Boss Steve O’Connor said clinching the deal (it has held roadside with AAL for years) “uniquely positions JCDecaux to deliver a seamless customer experience throughout Adelaide Airport connecting with travellers at every touchpoint of their airport terminal journey”.
The deal includes a full refresh of the assets in the terminal and three new digital large format external billboards.
Incumbent oOh!, which retained the business via a ten-year contract in 2013, said it didn’t pitch for the business – and would still have some presence via lounges.
“We made a deliberate decision not to tender for the Adelaide Airport Out of Home advertising contract in line with our broader Network strategy,” per Elise Taylor. “oOh!'s long standing and recently extended partnership with Qantas means our presence in Adelaide Qantas Lounges remains unchanged. We continue to deliver a national Fly advertising solution."
