The Coffee Commune, TFM Digital name 'Brisbane's Best Cafe' in latest campaign
The Coffee Commune (TCC) has wrapped its 'Finding Brisbane’s Best Cafe' campaign after seven weeks after receiving nearly 40,000 entries and triple-digit social media engagement.
Created in partnership with full-service agency TFM Digital, the campaign leveraged radio, digital, and programmatic Out of Home (OOH) advertising to increase TCC's membership and engage the local community.
The radio component of the campaign was conducted in partnership with Brisbane’s B105 and culminated at B105’s ‘Santa in the Suburbs’ event. Five finalists were presented on stage in front of 3,000 live listeners and 9,000 viewers on Facebook Live. The winner, Baladi Coffee in Yeronga, took home a cash prize of $4,000, and a nominator also received $1,000.
"Our campaign to uncover Brisbane's best café not only achieved its objectives but surpassed our expectations. With the knowledge, support and guidance provided by TFM, we navigated a large-scale campaign seamlessly," Owner of The Coffee Commune, Gianna DiBella, said.
"The best part of the campaign was witnessing the community spirit. It was heartwarming to see over 40,000 Brisbane residents get behind their favourite local coffee shop. It demonstrates the remarkable loyalty and support we have for small businesses in our communities. It was particularly gratifying seeing café owners and operators being brought to tears as they read the messages of support from their voting community, especially at a time when so many owners and operators have been doing it tough."
The campaign ran from 16 October to 1 December, and over its duration received 39,633 entries, with 28,774 unique entries and over 880 cafes nominated. Facebook reach increasing by 668% and Instagram reach growing by 297% to 45.5K in the first month of the campaign, with the 'Overall Winner Announcement' post on Facebook accumulating 400% more reactions than TCC’s median post.
TFM Digital MD, Taylor Fielding, said the goal of the campaign was to create an "awesome, engaging and fun" campaign, something that the community would get behind. Coffee is such a talking point that everyone believes they are the expert. Seeing the level of response from fellow cafe-lovers was amazing, and together the campaign helped smash targets for The Coffee Commune’s member community, as numbers grew by 442%. The organisation does great work and now it has a deservingly larger voice to represent."
