9Podcasts listenership up 16% in January: Triton Digital

Nine Podcast Network has reported a 16% increase in listenership in January 2024, according to Triton data. The growth was observed across both catch up radio podcasts and the original podcast slate.

Nine Radio's catch up podcast listeners grew by 43% month-on-month. Specific shows that saw growth include 2GB’s Ben Fordham Live (up 71%), 3AW’s Breakfast with Ross and Russ (up 73%), and Wide World of Sports (up 75%).

Nine Podcasts' original podcasts saw a 114% listener increase compared to the same time last year. The growth in original podcasts was driven by shows like 9 News Podcast Prime Time with Bec Wilson and The Elliot Exchange. Returning shows in 2024 include Six Tackles with Gus, The Official Married At First Sight Podcast, and Neil Mitchell Asks Why. New content includes Try Before You Die, The Missing Campers Trial, and AdMission.

"We are thrilled to see such significant growth in our audience numbers, reaffirming the popularity and relevance of our content in the Australian podcasting landscape," said Nine Podcast Network Head of Podcasts, Mia Stern.

She said: "As we continue to expand our offerings, we remain committed to delivering premium content that entertains and informs our listeners, while providing advertisers with unparalleled opportunities to connect with our engaged and diverse audiences in intimate listening moments."
