Wavemaker wins A$700m Audible pitch, worth $50m in Australia
GroupM's Wavemaker has had a roughly A$50 million boost in Australia after winning the A$700 million Audible global account.

Audible, the Amazon-owned audio storytelling company, has named GroupM’s Wavemaker as its global media agency of record after a review, a A$700 million account understood to be worth A$50 million locally.
The company has marketplace services for customers in the US, Canada, UK, Spain, France, Italy, Germany, India, Japan, and Australia.
The pitch process was led by Cynthia Chu, Audible’s CFO and Growth Officer, and Susan Jurevics, EVP, Head of International.
“Wavemaker’s energized approach to media will help Audible reach many more potential customers around the world and their global background will bring a nuanced, individualised approach to each marketplace in which we offer our service,” Chu said in a statement.
Toby Jenner, Global CEO at Wavemaker said: “We developed bespoke principles to power Audible’s Next Level of Performance, which will be underpinned with our market leading data and technology capabilities.”
Wavemaker started on the account on May 25.
Amazon uses IPG for its media account, and IPG Mediabrands locally has set up a dedicated unit, Rufus Powered By Initiative, to manage the Amazon media account.
