John Broome, CEO for industry body the AANA, has stepped down from his position after four years.
A former marketer for Unilever, Kelloggs and Nestle, Broome elected not to renew his contract, intending on finding a "new challenge".
During his time with the AANA he led multiple initiatives for the organisation, including best practices for pitching and transparency in the digital supply chain.
Earlier this week, the outgoing CEO also appeared on the Mi3 Audio Edition to discuss the impending move by the industry to adopt a cross-media measurement metric.
Broome had also recently overseen the new practice of having social media platforms and major publishers contribute to funding the advertising industry’s system of self-regulation, in a bid to take the pressure off Ad Standards.
“On behalf of the Board, I would like to thank John for his leadership of the AANA secretariat during a very dynamic and challenging period. During his tenure, John has delivered on the AANA’s mandate to evolve the self-regulatory system and to raise the profile of the marketing profession," Martin Brown, Chairman of the AANA said.
“In particular, John has overseen a series of ground-breaking initiatives to help get better transparency in the digital supply chain and also played a strong leadership role in working with the MFA to create best practice guides for the media contract and the pitch processes."
The AANA will announce an interim CEO shortly and will commence an extensive search for the new CEO role.
Broome thanked the organisation and said it has been "an honour" to evolve the advertising Codes and funding model for the self-regulatory system.
