General Mills' Latina Fresh, Ford Dealer Network join WNBL as major partners for 24/25 season
General Mills' local food brand, Latina Fresh, as well as the Ford Dealer Network, have both been announced as a Major Partner for the Women's National Basketball League (WNBL) for the 24/25 season.
The partnership aligns with Latina Fresh's mission of providing quick, convenient meal options, a necessity for athletes with rigorous schedules. Latina Fresh will feature across WNBL game day and digital touchpoints, with a content series in the works. The 24/25 WNBL season begins on Wednesday 30 October with Geelong facing Townsville, and all games will be broadcast live on ESPN, 9GO, or 9Now.
Surini Perera, Marketing Director for ANZ at General Mills, expressed her excitement about the partnership. "The WNBL athletes are fantastic role models for leading healthy and active lives. Through this partnership, we are continuing to support women in sport and living our values being certified as a top 50 Best Workplace for Women in Australia," she said.
General Mills, the parent company of Latina Fresh, also owns brands such as Old El Paso, Nature Valley, Fibre One, Haagen-Dazs, 25̊ South, and Betty Crocker. This partnership with the WNBL represents a significant commitment to supporting women's sport at the elite level in Australia.
“Latina Fresh is a much loved and trusted Australian brand that we know people rely on for quick and easy dinner options, particularly on faster-paced weeknights. Supporting household and families’ busy schedules around activities and sport, like basketball, is what we do best,” added Charlotte Stevens, Marketing Manager for Latina Fresh.
Ford Dealer Network meanwhile, said the sponsorship rounds out its support of Australian Basketball, as it is also a Major Partner of the Boomers and Opals, Ford Aussie Hoops, Ford Rollers and Ford Gliders. Please see attached the image and media release for more information, and quote below.
Cameron McLeish, Chairman - Ford Dealership Advertising Fund said it was proud to announce the Ford Dealer Network as Major Partner of the WNBL.
"We look forward to watching the athletes compete in the 2024/2025 season. Joining the WNBL was a natural progression for us as it represents the best in Australian professional basketball, and role models for young people in local communities to look up to. The Ford Dealer Network is proud of the role we play in communities too, including the Ford Aussie Hoops program which gives all kids a chance for their dreams to start somewhere. Our mission is to help make basketball more accessible right across the country, from the grassroots court to the stadium."
Founded in 1980, the WNBL is the longest running professional sports league for women in Australia. This partnership with Latina Fresh is a testament to the league's importance in promoting healthy and active lifestyles among women.
