Nine's play to lock brands into footy, blow away rivals
Nine says new investments in NRL are designed to bring in more brands across platforms and blow other rights holders out of the water. It is also moving to capture booming interest in the women's game.
Director of sport, Brent Williams, said Nine's new positioning, 'Your Footy, Your Way', applies to delivering for brands as much as audiences.
After record numbers for the women's premiership and State of Origin, Williams said Nine would look to cover the NRLW across all of Nine's assets.
Meanwhile, it is adding extra cameras - on the crossbar and corner posts - and is working on an agreement with the NRL and players association on trialling player cams.
Nine said its expanded coverage is designed to "ensure no other media company can offer the [same] access and opportunities for integration".
“Nine in 2020 will have more footy content across more platforms than any other media company in Australia,” said Matt Granger, director of sales – sport.
