Brainlabs appoints ex-MediaCom chief Sean Seamer as global chief operating officer

Brainlabs, the rapidly expanding independent full-service media agency, has recruited ex-MediaCom chief Sean Seamer as its new Global Chief Operating Officer.

Seamer's appointment follows the recent naming of Sue Unerman as the agency's Global Chief Strategy Officer. Seamer will work with the leadership team to expand the agency's geographical footprint and lead its operations.

Seamer brings to the table industry experience from his time at Gravity Media, where he held the role of Chief Commercial & Strategy, and from his tenure as CEO of MediaCom Australia and New Zealand from 2015 to 2018.

"Sean is a fearless leader with unparalleled operational excellence and experience in driving growth. His understanding of what brands need in today’s complex digital environment paired with the Brainlabs’ ‘High-Performance’ approach to data, tech and talent will be an unbeatable combination as we continue on our path to becoming the world’s largest independent full-service media agency," said Dan Gilbert, CEO of Brainlabs.

Brainlabs has been on a growth trajectory, transforming from a PPC agency into a full-service independent media agency with offices across key locations serving Namer, APAC, Europe and Latam. Its client roster includes Estée Lauder Companies, adidas, Walmart, Polaroid and Consumer Cellular.

In 2023, Brainlabs partnered with private equity firm Falfurrias Capital Partners, which has accelerated the agency's global expansion. Late in 2023, Brainlabs opened its new Poland operations and acquired Australia's leading independent digital media agency, Sparro, in January 2024.

"I am thrilled to be joining Brainlabs at a time where the agency is on a meteoric rise. The opportunity to be part of building a new era media agency is exhilarating. The talent in Brainlabs is outstanding and I look forward to harnessing the power of Brainlabs tech and talent to deliver game-changing results for clients in the US and across even more markets," said Seamer.

Seamer will be based in the US, working closely with CEO Dan Gilbert and Executive Chairman Stephen Allan. Founded in 2012 by Daniel Gilbert, Brainlabs has grown from one to over 850 employees, acquired and integrated eight agencies, and expanded its international footprint beyond its London HQ.

In January 2024, Brainlabs acquired Sparro, the Australian independent digital media agency.
