Former Spotlight executive producer Mark Llewellyn departs Seven Network

Mark Llewellyn, the former head of Seven's current affairs program 'Spotlight', has parted ways with the Seven Network.

The network confirmed his departure, with a Channel Seven spokesperson stating, "Mark Llewellyn no longer works for the Seven Network." However, the circumstances of his departure remain unclear.

Llewellyn's exit follows allegations by former Spotlight staffer, Taylor Auerbach, that the network had reimbursed Bruce Lehrmann for "illicit drugs and prostitutes" in its efforts to secure a tell-all interview.

Auerbach also detailed alleged payments of $10,000 for Thai massages, over $110,000 in accommodation, and flights to Tasmania to play golf. Auerbach alleged that he and a colleague had destroyed records of the expenses in order to avoid legal scrutiny.

Seven has denied the allegations in a statement, citing that it "never reimbursed Bruce Lehrmann for expenditure that had allegedly been used to pay for illegal drugs or prostitutes. Again, the invoice referred to in court does not suggest this is the case.”

Auerbach's affidavits came part of Network 10's bid to submit new evidence to a defamation case taken out by Lehrmann against the Network and former host Lisa Wilkinson over an interview aired on The Project.

Lehrmann argued that the interview, which detailed Brittany Higgins' claim that she was sexually assault in Parliament House in 2019, gave enough detail to identify him as the alleged rapist. Lehrmann was ultimately ruled against in the Federal Court, with Justice Michael Lee determining that "on the balance of probabilities", Bruce Lehrmann raped Brittany Higgins at Parliament House in 2019.
