Zoom set sights on 'revolutionising the entire work experience' with upgraded AI Companion

Video communications platform Zoom has unveiled a suite of AI-powered tools at its annual Zoomtopia event, with the new products positioned to transform the way teams communicate, collaborate, and maximise productivity across industries.

Announced at the tech company's annual Zoomptopia event, the new features include Zoom AI Companion 2.0, which pulls information from across Zoom Workplace and external apps like Microsoft and Google, providing users with intelligent, contextual insights. It will be available in the coming weeks at no additional cost with paid services in Zoom Workplace accounts.

From the first half of 2025, a new custom add-on will become available for $12 per user per month to personalise the AI experience for individual customers. The add-on will provide expanded data access to apps beyond Microsoft and Google email and calendar services and additional company data sources to expand the AI Companion's knowledge, allow customization with company glossaries, offer enhanced search capabilities, and be able to take action on the user’s behalf.

The personalisation capabilities will help improve AI Companion’s performance on the customer’s account and empower them to scale staff development efforts with a personalised coach and help save time and resources with custom avatar clips

Meanwhile, Zoom Task, a new AI-driven tool, has been launched to detect, recommend, and complete tasks based on user activity across Zoom Workplace. The company has also announced industry-specific solutions for healthcare, frontline workers, and education professionals.

“At Zoom, we’re not just reimagining communication—we’re revolutionising the entire work experience. Our vision is to create an AI-first work platform for human connection that empowers teams to achieve more than ever,” said founder and CEO of Zoom, Eric S. Yuan. “With AI Companion already enhancing productivity, we are helping our customers transform the way they work. This is more than an evolution; it’s a complete overhaul of how we get things done in the digital age.”
