Smartsheet revamps user experience, teams up with AWS to launch AI connector

Enterprise work management platform Smartsheet has unveiled a comprehensive transformation of its platform. At its annual Engage customer conference, the company introduced a new user experience and a range of first-of-a-kind features, aiming to make it easier for people to get started and take full advantage of Smartsheet’s scale and security, regardless of their technical abilities.

“Companies partner with Smartsheet because we understand the importance of rapidly adapting to the ongoing changes and complexity of work management. To help our customers ensure workers are continuously optimising the power of our solution, we’ve reimagined key features and launched capabilities so that it’s simpler than ever for people to get started and take full advantage of the platform, regardless of their technical abilities,” said SVP, Product Experiences, Ben Canning. “Guided by customer feedback, our updated user experience and brand-new features allow customers to intuitively engage with Smartsheet in the ways that are most important to them.”

Among the new features are the Amazon Q Business connector, launched in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to synchronise data from Smartsheet into Amazon's generative AI-powered assistant Amazon Q Business.

Amazon Q Business is designed to bridge the gap between structured and unstructured data within organisations.

Vice president of Amazon Q Business at AWS, Dilip Kumar, said: “Generative AI presents companies of all kinds with the opportunity to revolutionise how work gets done inside their organisations, but the key is securely, intelligently accessing their own data and content, no matter where it lives and what form it takes. That’s central to what Amazon Q Business can do for our customers.”

“The Smartsheet connector furthers our strategy to securely integrate Smartsheet with industry-leading enterprise AI tools so customers can seamlessly work across their business applications," said Canning.

Other new features included Collections, a new feature that allows users to quickly bring together items from Smartsheet and other platforms into a single view, as well as File Library, which brings files into Smartsheet alongside relevant projects, allowing users to annotate and comment on assets directly within their Smartsheet workspace. That's in addition to feedback-driven improvements to accessibility and new customised data-visualisation views.
