News Corp pushes deeper into ecom with content-to-commerce travel site Escape Deals - 1.7m monthly users

News Corp's travel media brand Escape is set to launch a dedicated commerce-content destination, Escape Deals, with a one-stop destination for researching, planning, and booking holidays.

Escape.com.au has 1.7m monthly users and a cross-platform audience of 4.016 million, consisting of the weekly print insert in News Corp's Sunday state mastheads, website, video content, eDM, and social channels.

Escape Deals is designed to attract and convert high-intent travellers, offering a seamless transition from inspirational stories and travel advice to booking travel experiences.

Kerrie McCallum, Editorial Director, Food, Health and Travel, Escape, describes Escape Deals as the 'final piece of the puzzle' in offering a 360-degree experience to the Escape audience.

Escape Deals will offer international and domestic deals, experiences, and hotels that can be booked on the spot, along with bespoke itinerary planning from a trusted retailer within 24 hours of submitting a question.

"We've worked really hard on building a highly engaged digital audience of travel intenders over the past few years and as a result we are leading the category in offering trusted inspiration and advice to more than 1.7 million Australians every month," McCallum said. "Now they will not only be able to plan and share their experiences, they will also be able to book them too. Through Escape Deals we will offer amazing international and domestic deals, experiences and hotels they can book on the spot, along with bespoke itinerary planning from a trusted retailer within 24 hours of submitting a question. We will also be able to curate the best deals, to create compelling print, digital and social content to help our audience find their most memorable holidays yet. It's a really exciting part of our content and service offering that will continue to help Escape innovate and meet the needs of our audience."

Escape Deals will include exclusive deals from a marketplace of travel providers across tours, packages, hotels, and experiences, focusing on the destinations that users love and prefer. The offers on Escape Deals are powered by the booking platform, Travlr, an Australian travel tech provider.

Adam Kron, News Corp Australia’s Director, E-Commerce, said Escape Deals was designed to provide a seamless experience, from 'inspiration through to booking', for Australians looking for their next travel adventure.

"Our new e-commerce offering, Escape Deals on escape.com.au, is designed to provide a seamless experience, from inspiration through to booking, for Australians looking for their next travel adventure. Escape Deals will include exclusive deals from a marketplace of travel providers across tours, packages, hotels and experience, focusing on the destinations that users love and prefer. It will also incorporate listings and offers from Australia’s most well known retailers of travel packages and services into the Escape ecosystem. A win-win for our clients and our audience."
