Squiz Media to launch 'News Club' podcast offering as a way of rethinking news engagement

Content producer, Squiz Media, is set to launch a new podcast and newsletter offering called 'News Club' on 13 February 2024. The initiative aims to redefine how Australians engage with news, focusing on audience-driven conversations across podcast, newsletter, and social media platforms.

Co-founders Claire Kimball and Kate Watson lead the Squiz Media team, which boasts an audience of half a million busy women and is known for its short-form news content in Australia.

"Our audience has told us they want more news from us - and more opportunities to engage with the Squiz team. We’ll do that, and lean into the things we do well, curate the news, declutter the experience, and do it with no agenda to sway opinion," Kimball said.

According to the pair, News Club is designed to simplify the news-consumption process and equip the audience with tools to form informed opinions without biases or an agenda. Squiz Media already has over a million monthly podcast listens and over 60,000 dedicated newsletter subscribers.

"With over a million monthly podcast listens and over 60,000 dedicated newsletter subscribers we are already a news destination for so many busy people. News Club will extend upon that and, importantly, give our advertisers more options to connect with our audience meaningfully," added Watson.
