Westpac has appointed long-serving marketing executive John Harries to the role of interim CMO, following the announced departure of Martine Jager in January this year.
In an internal announcement sent to Westpac staff yesterday, the bank has dropped the veteran ANZ and Westpac banker into the role on an interim basis. Jager is set to join the Bank of Queensland as Group Executive of Retail in April but details were scant on her permanent replacement.
Harries, who is currently in the role of Chief Transformation Officer, Consumer has been with the big four bank for more than eight years.
Prior to joining Westpac in 2012, Harries had worked for rival bank ANZ for close to 25 years, where he held the position of General Manager for Australian Operations.
Jager replaces the outgoing Lyn McGrath at Bank of Queensland, who officially retired last month.
In the new role, she will manage the bank's 165 branches across Australia, as well as Virgin Money and its third-party broker business.
