IMAA now 80-strong with these 29 new indie members
In the 18 months since the Independent Media Agencies of Australia launched on a boat on Sydney Harbour, it has grown from five to 80 members. Announcing another 29 firms have signed up, General Manager Sam Buchanan says it’s the “era of the indie”.

The national, not-for-profit industry association representing independent media agencies has added another 29 members swelling its ranks to 80 just 18 months since launch.
The Independent Media Agencies of Australia (IMAA) was established in February 2020 with five agency members.
Sam Buchanan, General Manager of the IMAA, said the “era of the indie” has begun. He has previously said the organisation’s “world first” trade credit insurance deal for members was a key win that saved members thousands, likewise a growing number of partnership agreements with major media vendors appealed to indie agencies.
“In less than 18 months, we’ve grown from just five agencies in the early planning stages to 80 members, and have become a truly national body, with member agencies in every state, and we’d like to welcome our newest members,” he said.
