Capgemini, Unity expand alliance, boosting real-time 3D visualisation tech adoption
Capgemini and Unity have expanded their strategic alliance, with Capgemini acquiring the latter's Digital Twin Professional Services arm.
The team from Unity’s Digital Twin Professional Services will join Capgemini, forming one of the largest pools of Unity enterprise developers globally. The transaction is expected to close in the second quarter of 2024.
The deal is set to accelerate the implementation of real-time 3D (RT3D) visualisation software for the industrial application of digital twins. Unity’s Digital Twin Professional Services team has worked with numerous companies over the past five years to develop real-time 3D solutions. The agreement will extend the reach and scale of Unity’s software through Capgemini, allowing more organisations to adopt and apply RT3D technology.
Capgemini Engineering CEO and Group Executive Board member, William Rozé, said: “Unity’s real-time 3D technology is the unequivocal industry standard for visualization across platforms and devices. As such, it is a key component that will impact the value-chain of intelligent products – from R&D to manufacturing, operations, and services.” He further added, “This new agreement with Unity will allow Capgemini to embed 3D visualisation software capabilities into our end-to-end business transformation services, to help clients realise the immediate and longer-term benefits of intelligent industry.”
Capgemini plans to scale a range of sector-specific solutions that are currently in high demand, including simulation, human-machine interfaces, and immersive training. Capgemini is a global business and technology transformation partner with 340,000 team members in more than 50 countries, reporting 2023 global revenues of €22.5 billion.
Unity CEO, Jim Whitehurst, said: “Unity has reached a point in its growth where the opportunity for us in the enterprise market has outpaced our ability to scale fast enough to meet client demand. With its scale and breadth of services – from design and engineering to business transformation and data expertise, Capgemini is well placed to unleash the full potential of Unity technology for enterprise clients across industries with specific use cases.”
