Pinnacle Foundation launches 'Picnic for Pinnacle' fundraiser ahead of Mardi Gras season
The Pinnacle Foundation, an Australian LGBTQIA+ education charity, is launching a fundraising initiative titled 'Picnic for Pinnacle' to encourage Australians to host picnics during February to raise funds for the charity's education support programs.
The 'Picnic for Pinnacle' initiative is timed to precede the annual Mardi Gras season, aiming to promote support for the LGBTQIA+ community and build excitement for upcoming festivals and events.
"February and March are an exciting time for the rainbow community, with many festivals and events that recognise the struggles and celebrate the achievements of the Australian queer communities," said Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Pinnacle Foundation, Andrew Staite.
The fundraiser can be hosted by any individual or group, with donations being tax deductible and starting from a minimum value of $2. All proceeds will contribute to The Pinnacle Foundation's work in supporting and educating young LGBTQIA+ Australians who have faced hardships due to their gender identity or sexual orientation. Hosts can set up the fundraiser through GiveNow or Facebook, which Picnic participants will then donate to.
"Picnic for Pinnacle is a great way to collectively support the community, while enjoying time with friends, family and colleagues," Staite said.
Founded in 2007, The Pinnacle Foundation's flagship program provides educational scholarships, mentoring and opportunities to young LGBTQIA+ Australians. The Foundation is also allied with The University of Sydney Business School to deliver the LGBTQIA+ Executive Fellowship, a program that develops senior and executive leadership capabilities within the LGBTQIA+ community.
