ANZ Bank appoints Astrud Burgess as Group Chief Marketing Officer; Sweta Mehra tapped to run Australia Everyday Banking
ANZ Bank has promoted Astrud Burgess to Group CMO after Sweta Mehra was elevated to run the Everyday Banking unit. Burgess' new role expands current responsibilities leading data, marketing and customer experience in New Zealand. She will continue to live across the pond in her new role.
The promotion of ANZ CMO Sweta Mehra to Managing Director, Australia Everyday Banking, where she is responsible for deposits, credit cards and personal loans, ANZ has moved quickly to fill the role, appointing Astrud Burgess from its NZ operation.
As Chief Marketing Officer, Burgess will lead the development and delivery of ANZ’s brand strategy and report to ANZ New Zealand CEO Antonia Watson and Group Executive, Australia Retail, Maile Carnegie.
Carnegie said: “Astrud is a highly regarded executive with an impressive depth of knowledge in marketing and data. Under Astrud’s leadership our New Zealand business has achieved substantial growth and reinforced market leadership."
Mehra held the CMO role at ANZ role for six years, a job she landed after a 17-year stint at Proctor and Gamble.
Carnegie praised what she described as Mehra's customer-centric, data-led approach to marketing. "I thank her for her contribution. Sweta has been a strong advocate for our focus on the financial wellbeing of our customers and will continue to do so in her new role leading our Everyday Banking portfolio."
