Winners of the media industry’s best sales teams and individuals were last night announced to a sold-out ceremony at Sydney’s Ivy Ballroom.

Voted by both global multinational and boutique/independent agency peers, the Media i Awards acknowledge the crucial role media sales representatives play in the pursuit of media advertising excellence.

Introduced in 2011, the Media i Awards are the only all-industry awards dedicated to recognising the contribution of media salespeople and their outstanding service for agencies and their clients.

This year more than 3,500 media agency professionals cast votes across three categories:

  • National Sales Team of the Year
  • Sales Team of the Year by Market (NSW, Victoria, Queensland, Western Australia & South Australia)
  • Sales Person of the Year by Category by Market (publishing media, radio/streaming, adtech, television/BVOD, social media, outdoor/cinema)

Dedication wins

Media i managing director Chris Winterburn saluted both winners and finalists, selected by their agency counterparts who cast over 68,000 votes across the six media categories resulting in almost 5,000 individual nominations.

“It takes hard work, dedication, and resilience to consistently deliver to your client’s needs at the highest level whilst at the same time navigating our dynamic and complex media landscape. Those of you who have mastered the art are being recognised this evening," said Winterburn.

“All finalists are to be congratulated on their nomination and should feel tremendous pride in having been recognised by their agency peers as being outstanding at what they do.

“The response from all involved has been overwhelming, reinforcing the significance of this initiative to sales teams and individuals across the country. We would like to congratulate all of tonight’s winners on their fantastic achievement.”

Run by Media i, the awards are proudly sponsored by the Media Federation of Australia and returning category sponsors Carat, EssenceMediacom, Hatched, Initiative, Kaimera, Mindshare, OMD, PHD, Starcom, UM, Wavemaker and Zenith.

Overall, the awards were hotly contested with oOh!media, ARN, The Trade Desk and Yahoo the most awarded media companies. Trophies were awarded to 17 different media owner sales organisations throughout the night.

oOh!media were presented with the National Sales Team of the Year award by MFA CEO Sophie Madden, and MFA Chair and CEO of OMG Australia | New Zealand Peter Horgan.
